“Il carbezzolo” is the Italian name of the so-called strawberry tree. \u00a0Its red-orange bumpy fruits ripen very late in fall, and although they’re a little mealy texture-wise, they’ve got quite an interesting flavor — especially in wine form! \u00a0This batch was from about 4 pounds of the fruit and made about a gallon of wine. \u00a0The hydrometer kept on hitting the bottom of the bucket, (and I didn’t have a graduated cylinder at the time), so the alcohol content of this is unknown.<\/p>\n
Opened up the 2013 reserve bottle on 7 December 2013 for a sip… \u00a0Kind of a dark amber honey color and flavor, there’s quite a bit of residual sugars, so I’d have to guess that the alcohol content is probably “up there”. \u00a0It’s a pleasant after-dinner sipping wine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
