{"id":258,"date":"2012-10-21T20:48:50","date_gmt":"2012-10-22T03:48:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.buchholz-cellars.org\/?p=258"},"modified":"2014-08-14T18:52:35","modified_gmt":"2014-08-15T01:52:35","slug":"26-rainier-cherry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buchholz-cellars.org\/?p=258","title":{"rendered":"#26 &#8211; Rainier Cherry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bottled (22) 325ml and (6) 750ml (from 5 gallons) at 20.5% ABV on 21 October 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The other half of the cherries I bought via charity were Rainier cherries. \u00a0I would have been remiss if I hadn&#8217;t at least attempted to make wine out of our iconic Washington cherry! \u00a0Whereas the\u00a0Bing cherries are deep red (as is the <a title=\"#25 \u2013 Bing Cherry\" href=\"http:\/\/www.buchholz-cellars.org\/?p=255\">wine<\/a> made from them), Rainier cherries are more orange\/blush\/yellow colored &#8212; and predictably, the result is a wine that&#8217;s amber colored. \u00a0There was apparently also not as much sugar in the Rainier cherries, so it <em>only<\/em> reached 20.5% ABV and finished drier with a little bit of a bite to it.<\/p>\n<p>This wine works well as an aperitif or \u00a0dessert wine&#8230; \u00a0Perhaps it&#8217;d even go well with vanilla ice cream? \u00a0Hm, I&#8217;ll have to try that&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bottled (22) 325ml and (6) 750ml (from 5 gallons) at 20.5% ABV on 21 October 2012.
